Local NFL Stars Return Home to Inspire Young Athletes

“It’s always a great thing when alumni can come and give back,” Assumption head football coach Anthony Paine said. “It just makes it special after the huge impact these guys have had in their careers."

For a small parish, Assumption has produced three athletes who have gone on to play in the NFL in recent years. All three NFL players — Brandon Jacobs, Tramon Williams and Jordan Mills — stood in front of 250 or so kids during the first-annual Bayou Boyz Youth Football Camp held at Mustang Stadium in Napoleonville on Saturday.

Their message was clear.

As the three NFL standouts united on their old high school football playing field, they wanted the young athletes to know that they could accomplish all of their dreams in life with a little hard work. “We have three NFL players standing here from this school showing you that it is possible,” Jacobs, a retired NFL player who played nine seasons in the league with the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers, told the crowd of young athletes. “We put this camp on to let y’all see what we’ve done so y’all can have an opportunity too."
