The Myth of the Triple Threat

"Triple threat!" We've all heard a coach teach it, emphasize it, and even yell about it, to get players in a position to shoot, pass, or dribble. We've likely taught it ourselves. But, is it the right skill and mentality to teach?

Via Breakthrough Basketball, Don Kelbick teaches a different triple threat: SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT!

The idea is that if you are in a position to shoot and a threat to shoot, it puts pressure on the defense to react.

The mentality of every player should be to shoot.
