During a biathlon, athletes compete on skis through a cross-country course while shooting at targets along the way. Once a Norwegian exercise used for military training, it’s now a popular event at the Winter Olympics.

Lowell Bailey was originally a cross country skier until someone put a gun in his hand when he was 14 years old. After that, he was hooked on biathlon. 

Susan Dunklee says biathlon one of the hardest sports out there because it is physically and mentally demanding, which is why she competes.
