John Elway, Super Bowl MVP and two-time Super Bowl Champion with the Denver Broncos, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 8, 2004. The former quarterback was elected in his first year of eligibility and was presented by his oldest daughter Jessica.

During his speech, Elway said, “As NFL players go, I was truly one of the lucky ones. I got to play my entire career in the same city. I got to play in the greatest football town in America, and for the greatest fans. And to top it off, I got to play for the greatest owner in professional sports. ‘Player and owner’ doesn’t even begin to describe our relationship. Pat (Bowlen, the Broncos’ former owner) you’ve been a great boss and an even better friend. Thanks for giving me the chance and the opportunity to pursue the dream we all have as players — and that’s to be world champs.” 

Elway threw for 51,475 yards and recorded 300 touchdowns in his career as a player. He is currently the general manager and president of football operations for the Broncos.
