The playing fields of our favorite sports are not immune from the social issues of our times.  And equal opportunities for women and girls are among the most hotly contested topics in America today.  Despite the progress of the Title IX era, female equality in sports still has a long way to go.

In TOMBOY, CSN explores female participation in sports and the challenges faced at every level, starting with the stereotypes, language barriers and cultural disparities that young girls may encounter.

TOMBOY follows this journey all the way to the elite professional level, as told by the voices of many of the world’s most prominent female athletes, including:

• Lindsey Vonn – skiing four-time World Cup Champion/Olympic gold medalist

• Hilary Knight - hockey four-time World Champion/two-time Olympic silver medalist

• Monica Abbott - softball “Million Dollar Arm” pitcher/Olympic silver medalist

• Mo’ne Davis – first girl to pitch a shutout at the Little League World Series

• Ann Meyers Drysdale - basketball Hall of Famer

The TOMBOY project consists of videos, blogs, and podcasts released online and culminates with a special one-hour documentary, also titled TOMBOY, which will air across all NBC Sports Regional Networks, nationally distributed NBCSN, and select NBC Owned Television Stations in March.
